Autowereld reageert op dood Sergio Marchionne

Het kan snel gaan. Afgelopen zaterdag maakten we nog melding van het feit dat Sergio Marchionne z'n functie als FCA-topman had neergelegd en sinds gisteren weten we dat de spraakmakende Italiaan z'n gezondheidsproblemen helaas niet te boven is gekomen. Als de topman van een groot, wereldwijd opererend autoconcern die er bovendien in is geslaagd om dat concern weer te laten groeien en bloeien, was Marchionne een bijzonder belangrijke speler in de wereldtop van autoland. Vertegenwoordigers van concurrerende merken en andere belanghebbenden maken daar geen geheim van en komen vrijwel zonder uitnodiging met een eerbetoon of een laatste groet.

Allereerst zijn er natuurlijk reacties uit de Verenigde Staten, waar FCA tot 'de grote drie' wordt gerekend. De andere twee laten van zich horen:

"Sergio Marchionne was one of the most respected leaders in the industry whose creativity and bold determination helped to restore Chrysler to financial health and grow Fiat Chrysler into a profitable global automaker. His extraordinary leadership, candor and passion for the industry will be missed by everyone who knew him. Our thoughts and prayers go out to his family at this difficult time."
