De Honda S2000 heeft bij Premium Classics altijd een bijzonder plekje in het hart. Wat ons betreft is de Honda S2000 misschien wel de beste Japanse tweezits cabrio ooit gebouwd.

De S2000 werd in 1999 geïntroduceerd ter ere van het 50-jarig bestaan van Honda en werd ontwikkeld volgens een inmiddels zeldzaam recept. Een extreem stijve X-bone chassisconstructie, een perfecte 50:50 gewichtsverdeling en een motor die zo ver mogelijk achter de vooras werd geplaatst volgens het zogenaamde front-midship-principe. Het resultaat was een van de meest puur sturende roadsters van zijn generatie.

Het echte meesterwerk was echter de legendarische F20C-motor. Deze atmosferische 2,0-liter viercilinder produceerde maar liefst 240 pk en draaide door tot 9.000 toeren per minuut. Met een specifiek vermogen van 120 pk per liter was het jarenlang de krachtigste atmosferische productiemotor ter wereld. Zonder turbo's of andere hulpmiddelen, maar puur dankzij Honda's ongeëvenaarde kennis van hoogtoerige motoren en VTEC-technologie.

Dit specifieke exemplaar vormt daarop geen uitzondering. Het betreft een origineel Nederlands geleverde S2000 (Facelift) met slechts 64.000 kilometer op de teller, voorzien van een volledige historie en nog volledig in de eerste lak.

Alsof dat nog niet bijzonder genoeg is, is deze S2000 bovendien afkomstig van de eerste eigenaar en uitgevoerd in wat misschien wel de meest begeerlijke kleurcombinatie is: Moon Rock Metallic gecombineerd met een tan lederen interieur.

The S2000 was introduced in 1999 to celebrate Honda’s 50th anniversary and was developed using a formula that’s now a rarity. It featured an extremely rigid X-bone chassis, a perfect 50:50 weight distribution, and an engine positioned as far back as possible behind the front axle according to the so-called front-midship principle. The result was one of the most pure-handling roadsters of its generation.

The true masterpiece, however, was the legendary F20C engine. This naturally aspirated 2.0-liter four-cylinder produced a whopping 240 pk and revved all the way up to 9,000 revolutions per minute. With a specific output of 120 pk per liter, it was the world’s most powerful naturally aspirated production engine for many years. Without turbos or other aids, but purely thanks to Honda’s unmatched expertise in high-revving engines and VTEC technology.

This particular example is no exception. It is an original S2000 (Facelift) delivered in the Netherlands with just 64,000 kilometers on the odometer, complete with a full service history and still in its original paint.

As if that weren’t special enough, this S2000 also comes from its first owner and features what is perhaps the most coveted color combination: Moon Rock Metallic paired with a tan leather interior.
