In de VS heeft Mazda voor het eerst een nieuwe SUV met drie zitrijen de openbare weg op gestuurd.

Mazda heeft een aantal SUV's in ontwikkeling, waarvan er één al in de Europese showrooms staat: de CX-60. Er komt een versie met derde zitrij, de CX-80. De Noord-Amerikanen zouden beide modellen niet krijgen, maar in plaats daarvan krijgen ze de CX-70 en CX-90, die vooral iets breder moeten worden.

On January 31, Mazda Canada Inc. will reveal the first-ever 2024 Mazda CX-90. The CX-90 will be offered with a highly anticipated all-new powerful and responsive 3.3L Inline Six e-Skyactiv Turbo engine.

The available 3.3-liter inline six turbo will have the highest horsepower and torque from a mass production gasoline engine developed by Mazda with 340 horsepower and 369 lb-ft of torque when using the recommended premium fuel. This engine provides CX-90 an engaging driving experience with a rewarding exhaust note, while also featuring a mild-hybrid system for efficiency without compromising on performance.

This inline six turbo is developed specifically for the large platform, Mazda's all-new rear-biased all-wheel drive layout that supports a performance-focused experience. Additionally, Kinematic Posture Control (KPC), first introduced on the MX-5 roadster, is standard on all CX-90 models and will help bring Mazda's signature driving dynamics to the three-row crossover SUV.

Voorbumper is ietsjes anders dan de CX-60, een soort vinnetje bij de luchtinlaten links en rechts. Achterbumper ook anders getekend zonder 4 neplaten ook dat 'rooster' op voorspatbord is anders. Daarnaast nog bredere achterlampen (helaas) en chroom op achterbumper, skirt en voorbumper. Verder zal er weinig schokkends te zien zijn.
 
Ik ben benieuwd of er op de naam na nu echt verschillen gaan zijn tussen de grote even nummers binnen de CX-serie (CX-60, CX-80 voor internationale markten) en oneven nummers (CX-70, CX-90 voor Noord-Amerika). Het lijkt er inderdaad niet op. Die verschillende namen vind ik wel bijzonder, maar misschien wil Mazda zo voor iets meer continuïteit zorgen en is zo duidelijker dat de CX-80 de CX-8 (lange CX-5) opvolgt en de CX-90 de CX-9, modellen die ook grotendeels verschillende regio's bedienen.

Grotendeels, want Australië en Nieuw-Zeeland zijn hierop een uitzondering, waar zowel de CX-8 als de CX-9 worden verkocht. En op Mazda New Zealand staat dan weer de CX-90 aangekondigd in het modellengamma. Dat is verwarrend, want de CX-60 wordt daar ook verkocht (dus de toekomstige CX-70 lijkt me uitgesloten). Warrig verhaal, warrige realiteit.
 
Voor Noord-Amerika, Europa en Japan is het kraakhelder. Oceanië is altijd al wat afwijkend geweest.

Ze zeggen dat de CX-70 en CX-90 breder zullen zijn dan de CX-60 en CX-80 dus dat zal dan wel. Tenzij het alleen spoorbreedte zal zijn ofzo.

Weinig nieuws aangezien interieur vrijwel identiek zal zijn aan de CX-60 (niet erg overigens)
 
Lel van een auto.Mooi merk Mazda.Ik heb ooit de 323F gehad met inklapbare koplampen. Sindsdien een beet zwak voor het merk.
